Good Morning Ladies,

I was wondering for those who had a HSG test, did you drive yourself or bring someone? I have one on Tuesday, but I do not want my husband to take time off it he really does not need to be there. I am going to be having surgery and I would rather have him use the time for that. Just was not sure what to expect.

I had an HSG a few weeks ago. I drove myself. I took 800mg of ibuprofen an hour before. I really don't think it helped at all. Everyone's experience seems to be different - my experience was that the test itself was very painful. I don't have blocked tubes, and the actual dye injecting was just like minor cramps, but the catheter and balloon felt like my cervix was being stabbed with something dull.

But, it was NOT NOT NOT nearly as bad as it was in my head. It was fine.

I was just going to ask about this too. I'm in the process of setting it up and wanted to know others expierences.....like how long it takes, if they had alot of cramping, or was it painful? I dont know anyone IRL that has had the procedure done.....

I've had 2 HSG's and they really aren't bad. I took an 800 mg Ibuprofen before I went and I was fine I had more cramping with this one than the last one. My DH went with me at the 1st one and we found out my tube were blocked so I did need him there for support. And this last time my mom went with me and my right tube was great and open and I drove home.

Waiting to go back takes the longest and the procedure took less than 15 mins for the last one I had.
