i dont even think my medicine is working, the doctor only checked on my levels once, and that was after the first cycle, but hasn't checked since. all he said was to come back in 6 months if im not pregnant. how do i know its working?! how do i know if its working against me?! i want a different doctor, and a second opinion, but he is the only fertility specialist in this town...
Re: clomid
Are you doing just clomid? My Dr checks every other cycle to make sure you are not getting cysts from Clomid. I think that is very important. I have heard other people say that you should really be monitered when using clomid.
Wait, wait, wait...by saying your doctor only checked your levels once and told you to come back in 6 months and by you wondering if the medicine is working or not, does that mean you are taking Clomid TOTALLY unmonitored? I really, really hope I'm reading this wrong and that isn't the case...
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Ok....STOP taking it right now. You could EASILY end up with multiple mature follies and get pregnant with HOM. Or you could have tons of cysts and it would be worthless. And big cysts can be very, VERY painful and very dangerous!
You NEED to find a new doctor...a RESPONSIBLE RE.
I'm so sorry your doctor did this to you. Stuff like this is what gives IF/ART a bad name and it really literally makes me SICK.
Monitoring (as in multiple times PER cycle) is absolutely critical when on any form of IF meds.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
This for sure!
I was unmonitored on clomid for my first 3 cycles, as it was prescribed by my gyn. I then started seeing an RE, who monitored me for my 4th and 5th cycle on clomid. During my 4th and 5th cycle, I overstimmed with 11 mature follies in the 4th clomid cycle, and 7 mature follies the 5th clomid cycle. Both of these cycles were cancelled, and we had to abstain during FWP weeks. It also seriously thinned my lining, and it took months to get it back to normal.
While clomid works really well for some people, it is not for everyone, and there is no way to know that if you aren't being monitored properly. I would seek a second opinion and travel to a new doctor if needed.
