H didn't listen to me.

Stories like that never have happy endings, right?

We got built-ins put around our tv a few weeks ago, but decided we could just paint them ourselves rather than pay the contractor $300 to do it.

I go and get paint chips to match to the wall color. We decide on a color.

H goes to the store and convinces himself we picked wrong and gets a different color. Mistake one. 

He starts to paint with that. Mistake two.

He realizes he's wrong and gets pissy when I ask him what possessed him to change his mind IN THE STORE when he could no longer see the color of the walls.

He goes to Lowe's to get the "right" color. But gets matte rather than eggshell.

Comes home and starts again. I tell him it's not shiny. He refuses to listen and paints the whole thing.

It now does not match the rest of the walls at all and he has to go back tomorrow and get what I told him to get from day one. Ceiling white in eggshell.

That's so annoying.  I'm pretty sure I would be DH in your story though

Nope. Apparently nearly 9 years (wow, I can't believe May will be 9 years of being together) together has yet to teach him that.

Even when they listen, it can be like speaking Turkish to a French guy. Not gonna get a word you are saying.

Mine doesn't either., but I do get plenty of opportunities to say "I told you so" very frequently because of it.
