Babysitter/Nanny rates in Los Angeles?

Trying to figure out what to pay a family friend to watch my 5 week old a couple hours per day a couple days per week.  He's colicky, so it's a big job :)

She's college educated, 30ish years old, a little child care experience but not a ton, speaks English, drives and is getting certified in infant CPR.  I'm hearing that $12-$25/hr is the going rate in Los Angeles.  We live in the West Hollywood/Hollywood area.

Any thoughts?  Thanks, ladies!

  • $12- $15/h, you can get someone with good experience (and CPR, First Aid). More than that ($18-20), it will be some one with lots of experience (those GREAT ones).... lower than that ($10-12), you can get someone young, with some experience. I hope it helps.
  • I agree!  $12-15 is right, we'll be paying $15 for someone to watch Harri (who is 3mos) a a couple of days a week :)
