My best friend went on and on about what a great movie it is. If I hadn't saw a post on here about it I would have watched it. Glad I didn't.

Well, my husband bought it for our son.  I sit down to watch a cheery kids movie with them & am greeted by the story of the m/c. Suck.

Oh brother.  They were just doing a segment on NPR earlier about the best movies of the decade.  They started talking about how great Disney Pixar movies are.  Then they went on to say that the opening montage on "UP" was the greatest thing they'd ever seen.  Now, I've never seen 

Up, but from what I've heard on here, I think they were talking about the exact scene that is preventing me from wanting to watch that movie.  I wanted to call the station and b!tch slap them through the phone.

Maybe the montage is cofusing to them?  I mean, I know when I watch the montage in Rocky IV I get confused.

Someone got Up for Christmas (not sure who) and put it on at my IL's house. I casually wandered out of the room at the beginning thanks to the warning I got here.

That is a little insensitive BUT: I love the movie and the mc part is just a small part of the entire movie. I love all pixar and disney movies and this one was a tear jerker but great movie.

My hubs bought me a fugly sweater, the likes of which could make my uterus drop out from sheer terror, however, Up still sucks as a gift. So sorry.

I watched it just now thanks to youtube.  At first I was like aww how sweet is this..and then bam... that's pretty dang depressing.  Why Disney Why!  This is something as a child wouldn't even phase you, but wow...

You win, but my MIL gave me a crappy gift too.  I got a clothes basket filled with paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, fabric softener, dish soap, and a mr. clean scrubber.  My house is always clean so I was a little offended.

I don't fault Disney for putting it in the movie. I think it's actually rare and kind of impressive that a mainstream movie addresses the pain of pregnancy loss.

That being said--no way in hell am I watching it until I have a healthy little one in my arms.

Oh and the only slightly insensitive gift we got was a "family" ornament with 3 snowmen.  Which only bothers me because Matthew is still very much a part of our family, even if he isn't here, he's still my son, kwim?

Perhaps they were seeking a way to say "These imaginary cartoon people made it through a terrible tragedy that we don't really know about, so quitcherbitchen"?

(I say that with love to you and snark to them, FYI.  It's hard to convey that through the written word, but if you were here, you'd see me say it with the sort of verve that would make it clear.)

ETA:  Maybe next year they'll give you Bridge to Terebithia or something equally as happy.

Omg well I actually work for one of the guys that wrote that movie and nobody F*ing warned me about it and when I watched it I bawled and was like, "gee, ya think they could have mentioned it to me? They f*ing wrote it!!!!!!!" Nope, didn't get that flippin memo. Guys. Are. Stupid.
