So my MIL tells me yesterday that a close friend of hers wants DS to call her "Grandma Sally." She has brought DS gifts a few times, but neither DH nor myself knows this lady all that well so it took me off guard when I heard this. I could understand if this person was like another mother to DH, but she's not. I know this stems from the fact that my mother is deceased and I almost feel "jipped" that my mom isn't part of DS's life, so should I just get over it and be glad that DS has another grandma-like figure in his life that adores him? After all, it was hard enough for me to refer to my step-mom as Grammy.
Re: Am I being dumb??
I cant answer that for you.....
But My stepdaughter has a Nana and I will be damned if my son will ever say that out of his mouth to her.. She is a POS, trash talking, nasty person.. DH and I feel very strong that she will never be around our child... O if you all only knew!!

I don't think it's dumb. If you don't know this lady or have a relationship with her he shouldn't be told to call her that. Our neighbor calls herself DS auntie but she also watches our house and animals while we're gone and we know her well. I don't think you're being dumb at all.
Since he won't be talking well for a while and if you won't see her that often, it may not even be an issue.
i wouldn't really be cool with that.
"aunt sally," maybe, but not grandma. i don't know what makes it different.
