I am planning on getting a carrier for my husband's birthday in a few weeks. I know he wants a carrier that buckles, baby can face in or out, and he wants to start wearing when baby is a newborn. I have been looking at the Ergo, but wasn't sure about the baby facing out position. Any other carriers you would recommend? TIA
Ergo does not face out. They designed it so that it is not possbile as the research shows that it is healthier for baby's spine to be in a 'froggy" position with their legs at a ninety degree or greater angle with full seat support and this is best achieved by facing in. There are a host of other reasons that people will point to as to why baby should face in.
Ergo can be used from newborn, but it requirs an insert to do so. I don't know mucb about the other carriers. I would stay away from the bjorn type though.
