We're calling them "goals" this year. Because when we set a goal, we reach it, always. Resolutions seem more like wishes or dreams to us. They dont necessarily always come true. Our three goals this year is to focus on our debt, starting a family, and becoming healthier in all aspects of our life.
My vote was no but not because I would never keep one. I just don't believe in using the start of a year to change the way you think or want to look etc. If I feel that there is something that I would like to change or improve I should take charge and jump in...not use the change of a year as my starting point...ei...I started a diet and exercise program the Monday before Thanksgiving because I found myself unhappy both with my physical appearance and mentally. Lost 15 lbs so far!! Haven't been this happy in a while!
A few years ago DH started making a joint "life list" for the year in different categories: fun, money, family, health . . and try to make the list goals to accomplish not the "I can'ts or things to stop"
for example: We will cook more at home instead of we'll stop eating out.
or fun things: we'll learn to dance this year and take lessons. or we'll take one vacation a month (and vacation just meant day trip or "adventure" didn't mean lots of moola) . . .
so that's the plan again this year.

Yeah, I try to focus more on goals than on resolutions, too. And they're not super big things like change careers. More the steps I'm going to reach in grad school in the next year and simple stuff like cooking more, trying new restaurants in my neighborhood, and trying to get into yoga.
BFP #1 10/17/09: missed m/c at 7 weeks; BFP #2 10/22/10: chemical pregnancy; BFP #3: 1/28/11
I always just remind myself it's a fresh start and to try to make it a good year and that just means take everything day by day while leaving all the crap behind.
And seriously Mindy, how adorable are you and DH in your new siggy! Love it!
