2nd bday party at 4pm - questions?

As long as everything is okay with my grandma, we are still planning to have Ethan's 2nd birthday party this Saturday at 4.  We're having it at a music studio (they have classes like Gymboree/Kindermusik) and after the "music party", there will be about a half hour (or more if we decide to pay extra) of time allotted for eating/cake/opening presents, which doesn't seem to be much time.  Since the party is at 4, I didn't think we would really need to have much food... I was thinking of just doing mini lunchmeat sandwiches, chips, drinks, and then monkey birthday cupcakes.  Do you think that will be okay?

  • I think that's totally fine assuming people are out of there by 5:30 or so because that gives them time to get home/elsewhere for dinner.

  • I think that sounds fine, like Katie I think that if they are out by 5:30 you should be good w/ what you are planning on serving.

Would you mind posting a pic of your invite again?  I thought it was adorable and was planning on a monkey theme for Nathaniel's 2nd bday.  TIA!

    Have fun!

  • We did pizza at Mason's 4pm party, but that's because most of my family eats dinner pretty early (5pm or so).  Like Katie said, as long as it doesn't run too late, I think you'll be okay.

  • Does the party start at 4 or does the eating part start at 4?  We started Ava's party at 4, but the first part was just getting everyone together, mingling, kids playing (and we had some apps out) and then we had a cookout that started about an hour into the party.  People were eating between 5-6.  That being said, I personally think a sandwich and chips is an acceptable "dinner" but that's just me.  If I were served a sandwich anytime beween 4 and 6, I wouldn't go home and make dinner.  I might have a snack later on.  I think you're fine.

  • I think your menu sounds perfect for the party and the time.  I would be a little concerned with the 1/2 hour for eating though.  I think I would extend this to 1 hr.

  • Your plan for food sounds good to me!  I agree that half an hour doesn't sound like much time to eat and open presents, though.
