We are also considering having our bedding made. I was wondering how much fabric people needed. We are looking to have a bumper, bed skirt and maybe a blanket. Any estimates would help? I am definitely not the sewing queen in my family. TIA!!
For my bedskirt I used 3 yards for the "legs" of the skirt and 2 yards of plain muslin for the deck (the part between the crib and mattress) - any plain sheet would suffice for this too.
The bumper will be about 5 yards total (I'm using 2 different fabrics - one on the inside and one outside).
Not sure on the blanket as this depends on the size that you want - I'm planning on making a quilt using all of the scraps from the skirt and bumper fabrics.
Skirt was 5 yards (extra incase we thought we wanted more of a ruffled look) 3 yards of each of the bumper fabrics. 1-1/2 yards for the bumper ties and 4 packages of the pre-made piping that you can purchase at Jo-anns. Our blanket was made with the left over skirt fabric and is about 36" x 40", with the white minky dot on the inside and the pre-packaged satin binding. Also since there was left over bumper fabric she will be making us a custom teething guard for the crib. Good luck and cannot wait to see pictures
