Getting Ready for Baby Show

I recieved an invitation in the mail for a Getting ready for baby show (www.gobabyshow.com). Has anyone ever been to one of these? I really want to go but DH doesn't, and the FAQ's specifically state that if the father doesn't want to go for any reason other than work, the mother should not attend due to space limitations. I suppose I could just say he is working, but I prefer to be honest. I'm just wondering if its worth it to try and drag DH there. TIA!

Re: Getting Ready for Baby Show

  • My guess is they have a hidden agenda...like when you go to a timeshare presentation to get a free cruise and they'll only do it if both spouses are there.

  • After looking at the site, it sounds a little strange to me.  I agree with PP that there might be a hidden agenda.

That's what struck me as strange. They send out these adorable invites, but have such a strange website, it's so plain. I wasn't sure if it was like the bridal shows, but it doesn't seem like the same thing. Plus the invites say the gift is worth $129 but the website says it can have certificates or coupons.

  • Only if they were presenting a big ticket purchase item would they care if both were there imo.  Sounds like they need both "decision makers" there.
  • I've heard about these...they are basically a scam (think timeshare).  Also I wouldn't want to attend just for the simple fact that on their FAQ's section they don't use correct spelling or grammar!!!!  (Not that I'm terribly picky-I just know when to use 'do' and 'due' and 'they're' and their)

  • DONT GO!!! I went to one last year and it was so not worth it.  I thought it would be like a bridal show with vendors and prizes, but it wasn't. It was some guy selling baby furniture.  He was selling a crib and a highchair that you can turn into a tub for baby.  It was very long, very unhelpful, and the furniture was very scary looking and expensive.  We were hoping the "gift bag" would make up for it.  It was a bag with online coupons that were a few months away from expiring and you had to spend a lot of money to use them.  Hopefully it's a different one and you can walk out at anytime, but it was a waste of our day. I hope this helps.
  • Thanks Ladies! My local board posted this link:

The whole thing is a total scam. I'm a little sad, but happy since I didn't waste my time and get completely disappointed. Thanks for your help!

  • I just got one in the mail. Mine is for Getting Ready for Baby show, it does not mention anything about if the daddy doesn't come they won't let you in or anything regarding space limitations. It just says it's about safety info and is designated for couples, but that grandparents can attend. It is also sponsored by baby classes...
