New Year's Day menu Ideas?

I am having 6 adults and 4 kids over on New Year's for dinner.  I want to make it a really nice meal, with apps, main meal, and dessert.  The only limitation I have is that one person only eats Chicken for a meat (I could serve her chicken and everyone else something else as a meat because I am already making chicken for the night before).  The kids do not have to eat the same thing we do.

Ideas that are good, but not horribly time consuming?

Re: New Year's Day menu Ideas?

  • We always have pork and cabbage for New years. We go to my mom's and watch football all day, so we have tailgating appetizers and then the pork roast.

  • Veggie lasagna, maybe with some pasta on the side for picky eaters, garlic bread, green salad and a veggie side (this is my menu for NYE).

Or, cranberry or apricot chicken with rice, salad and veggie side.

  • I have a killer Prime Rib recipe that's super easy.  It wouldn't help your chicken lady though.  Could you do soup instead of an appetizer?  If you did, French onion soup would go well with the Prime Rib and is not very time consuming at all. Let me know and I can send you the recipes.

PS. I also have a hot artichoke dip that flies off the shelf and will literally take you 5 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to cook.

  • We do an all appetizer dinner (spinach/artichoke dip, fondue and fixins, hummus and fixins, and taquitos) and a chocolate fountain for dessert.

  • We do fondue.  This is our New Years Eve tradition, it would be New Years Day but Nathan isn't home every New Years day and this is his favorite thing!
  • We are doing a pineapple brownsugar ham in the crockpot and cheesy potatoes.
