2nd Trimester

Worst backpain...

Its my 3rd baby and i went to the doctor today, normal checkup. Im 16 weeks today and I HAVE THE WORST BACKPAIN! Any suggestions to relieve the pain? I never had this with the first 2 pregnancies. Everything is perfect thus far and its not labor or anything silly...i just think the sciatic nerve is being pinched or something. I cant take hot baths, etc HELP ME!

?I can barely walk. Every step is shooting pain....anyone else experiencing this??

Re: Worst backpain...

  • I had this around 13-14 weeks. The pain was so bad when I tried to walk and sometimes I would just stand there and cry. My dr. said I could go to a chiro, but I was just too busy. I think it was a pinched nerve. I spent a lot of time stretching my legs and just taking it easy, and eventually it got better. I'm sorry you are dealing with this....it really does suck. Good luck!

  • Have you tried massage in the past?  It works great for me, I have back issues pre-preg too. I use it with chiropractics.
  • Can you go see a chiropractor?  My back pain is already so incredibly bad-much more so than it was when pregnant with DS.  I think it's from carrying a toddler up and down the stairs and putting him in the car seat, not to mention all the rough housing and wrestling.  Have a chiropractor crack you back in place-you'll feel so much better!
  • Thanks guys ill definitely try that. I have a 7 and 5 yr old and spent the entire day cleaning our house...how am i going to do this the whole way through if im this bad now? Yikes. On top of that it prob doesnt help that we live in a 4 story condo so i have to walk up and downstairs ALL DAY LONG!

I may try the chiropractor thing. Does anyone know if thats usually covered under insurance??

  • mine just started today...... after cleaning the house too!
  • I have had horrible sciattica pain for the past month or so. It feels like my lower back will break with every step. The only thing my Dr told me I  can do is take tylenol for the pain, and put on a hot pad occasionally. If you are on your feet to much it will cause this (or my problem the opposite, I sit all day at work and don't get up much to move around). Its horrible...and I came to find out all the women in my family get it when they are pregnant and it doesn't go away until delivery for them. UGH. Going to be a long few months! Hang in there!
