Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Baby has a rash on cheeks, what is it/what to do?

Do you think it's dry skin, teething, etc?  It looks like tiny red dots.  I started putting vasiline on her checks. I think she's also getting a diaper rash.

  • Drool rash?

If so, Vaseline should help.  Apply to clean skin, before bedtime and feeding.

  • She's been spitting a lot, I guess so. Today she started drooling and not so much spitting.  It's been pretty cold here so I thought it was dry skin, I just hope it goes away. She's had it for a couple of days now.

  • wow..we are going through the same thing. i thought it was the antibiotics that we finished up sat. but it seems to be on both cheeks now and starting on his chin. The dr. today said to try hydrocordizon(sp?) cream. He has also been very fussy.

I was going to suggest hyrocortisone cream (1%).  But ask your doctor first :)

  • I've read that teething can cause rashy cheeks/chin AND diaper rash, so that would be my guess!

  • eucerin also helps, my lil drool monster has that issue
  • Probably from the cold air, Vasoline will help.

  • Noah has also had diaper rash. Also thought it was the antibiotic.
  • DD had this too, doc said it was eczema and to use hydrocortisone ointment and aquaphor. Someone on here suggested California baby Calendula cream and after just 2 days, her skin is clear. I highly recommend it.

  • DD gets this as well. The pedi said it could be from drool, cold air/wind, heater, or a combo of these things. He recommended Aquafor and it works very well. Believe it or not, vaseline did not work on her like the aquafor did.
