2nd Trimester

Is it too early to...

Start a registry? I've been dying to start one but superstitious old women are like "no, that's a bad omen" and all that. I just wanna run through Target with the little scanner and do damage! But should I wait until I'm a little further along? I'm 18 weeks now.

Re: Is it too early to...

  • We started ours when I was 16/17 weeks. We did it partly to get out of the house and away from *evil* roommate and because people wanted to buy us baby stuff for Christmas and my birthday.

  • We started one a couple of weeks ago at BRU due to my MIL asking what we wanted for baby for Christmas... but it only has a few things that I knew I wanted on it.  I have to add a lot more closer to my shower.

  • We did ours at 18W. We did it to show our parents (1,200 miles away) what we want to get baby.

  • I waited until my 20 week ultrasound, then went straight to BRU.  Before then, I read Baby Bargains and knew everything I wanted so that I wouldn't be baffled when I finally went and registered.
  • We are going to start this coming weekend or next. I am thinking we will NOT do it all in one shot. I want to give us time to get it all together before we share it.

The only problem I have with Target though is the turnover rate for things is so fast. You could register for something and then by the time your shower comes it could be gone. It will just make a lot of extra work for you in the end to add new things. We aren't registering at Target for that reason (as of now) but who knows it could be like that at BRU too!

  • I started an online registry at 17 weeks. I still have not gone to the store to add to it, but I plan on going soon.

  • We started ours around 15w/16w because we had some folks ask so they could take a look for holiday gift ideas. One of our first baby showers is also super early (at 21 weeks) so our hostesses asked I have a registry done early so they could include it in the invites.
  • We registered at 16 weeks, just no clothes, they are seasonal.  We did it over Thanksgiving weekend.  I had no money for Black Friday shopping, so this was my "shopping" instead.
  • We have already registered for some stuff.

  • I would definitely said it's not too early. I already started. ;-) I started online at BRU. Have fun!
