NT Numbers?

After both rounds of my NT blood work, the genetic counselor said that our chances of the baby having Down Syndrome or Spina Bifida were 1 in 5,000 & 1 in 4,200. (I can't remember which number corresponded with which, but those were the numbers) All she said to me was that they were great, and she wasn't concerned. Then I have seen several women post that their chances were 1 in 10,000, so that just made me wonder what others had been told. Just curious if there's anyone who doesn't mind to share this.

First time mom= lots of questions ;)

Re: NT Numbers?

  • typically the younger the mother the lower the risk. that is probably where some of the difference comes. I remember my risk being similar to yours and i was completely satisfied with these numbers. in addition, they confirmed the nose bone and neckfold on the big u/s.

I guess the age factor makes sense. I don't know the ages of the women posting on here when I see their numbers. Our U/S looked good as well, so that was nice to hear.
