Funneling cervix question

So, I had a monthly checkup and my 2 week cervix checkup last monday(12/21) and during the ultrasound to look at my cervix, the tech wrote "slight funneling".  Once we got in to see the doctor, he said everything looked good and didn't mention the "funneling cervix".  So I brought it up and he said it was fine since my cervix was still measuring in the 3's and is closed (can't remember how long exactly) and just to take it easy.  But nothing like bedrest or anything.  Should I be worried about the funneling?  It seems that everything I read about it is not very positive.  Has anyone else had this or know anything about it?  Also, my next cervical check is not until 1/7.

TIA!!  :)

Re: Funneling cervix question

  • Mine is slightly funneling, but it's also shorter than yours.  I am on bedrest because it is short, and that seemed to be of much bigger concern to my OB than the funneling; in fact, he didn't mention the funneling at all and I pointed it out on the u/s.  So, I would say that you are fine given your cervical length, but definitely don't push yourself physically!

  • Are you seeing a Peri or just a normal OB? I don't have experience with this, but I think it would be worth getting a Peri's opinion. Funneling or a shortening cervix that early is nothing to mess around with and is worth taking every extra precaution.

  • I am seeing both a Peri and OB but usually just see the Peri's ultrasound tech when I go every two weeks for the cervical check.  I guess I haven't seen her much since everything has been fine up and unchanged until this point.  The OB just reviews the results of the Peri's ultrasounds, as a tech is the one performing them.

     Thanks girls!
