my first pregnancy brain moment

I am surprised it took 31 weeks to happen, actually.

I have an NST at 2 pm at the hospital, which means I have to leave here by 1 pm.  I was planning to grab a quick lunch and eat it in the car on the way down to the hospital.

So I jumped in the car and started driving and realized that 1.) it was only 12 pm, not 1 pm and 2.) I didn't bring anything to eat.

Luckily I only got down the street before realizing I left an hour early, so I was able to turn around and come home, but yikes.  What a dumbass I am.

From bride brain a few years ago to pregnancy brain now.  And I am guessing mommy brain is next.  MH wonders what happened to the person who used to be so on top of things...  ;)

Re: my first pregnancy brain moment

  • At least you caught it before you were too far away from home!

I think I have IF brain - I am so unorganized these days.

  • Duh.  How could I forget the IF brain.

bride brain ---> IF brain ---> pregnancy brain ---> mommy brain

I swear, I used to be so organized and on top of things.  Almost scarily so.  Not so much anymore.  I have clothes all over my floor, wet hair because I can't be bothered to blow it dry, and a paper towel full of Cheese Nips for lunch.  Tongue Tied

  • Ha, glad you didn't go too far before realizing it was still early.  There is definitely such a thing as a pregnancy brain!

The other day, I had a dentist appointment at 1 p.m. on a Saturday.  The dentist's office called at 10 a.m. to confirm and I said I'd be there.  At 1:15 p.m., I got a call wondering where I was.  I was at home, not showered, not dressed, completely forgot about the appointment that I just confirmed 3 hours before.

  • I'm glad to know it's not just me!!  I keep forgetting lots of stuff and it's starting to make me (and my husband) wonder if I'm going crazy.
  • ha! I would have kept going and used it as an excuse to eat out somewhere.

  • Glad you remembered before you got too far, and I totally feel your pain-- this morning as I was showering I couldn't for the life of me remember whether or not I had already shampooed my hair. How I forget stuff that happened (or didn't, lol!) 5 seconds before I'll never know...

  • Not only am I more forgetful, I feel like I have about 25% of the brain power I used to have.  I have tried reading books and find that if a sentence is too long, I can't follow it.  If a plot isn't straightforward, I'm confused...  And I have a doctorate in psychology.  I really hope my brain comes back when this is done or else I will be the world's lamest psychologist.
