WWYD?

DH just called from work. He's got a bad flu and can't keep anything down. Based on the symptoms he described sounds like it could be swine flu. I already called my mom to ask if I could have DS stay there tonight. I want to stay and take care of DH but I worry about picking something up from him. WWYD?

Re: WWYD?

  • ship him to mom's. don't get your baby sick.

  • I would stay away from him.  Have him sleep in a separate room to contain the germs.  Did you get the H1N1 shot? If not, I would probably even go so far as getting a mask to wear if you're going to stay home and take care of him. I'd change your sheets before you go to bed tonight in case he was contagious last night (which he more than likely was) and lysol/clorox wipe common household surfaces.

  • Swine flu does not usually have vomiting, it is more cold/fever.  He might just have a 24 hr stomach bug or food poisoning.  You have probably already been exposed to it, you are contagious before getting symptoms.  I would try to stay away, not be in the same room, touch DH or anything.  Just get your rest, take your vitamins and wash your hands.
  • If you were around him today you probly already have it.  My SO and I both had H1N1 very early in my pregnancy.  I stayed out of the house and still got it 2 days after he first showed symptoms.

If he does think he has it he should go to the doctor asap and get tested and put on tamiflu.  H1N1 was the worst I have ever evvvvver felt.  GL

This. And most viral illnesses (H1N1 included) you have already been exposed to the shed virus before the person is symptomatic. Focus now is keeping you and DD healthy so good nutrition, rest, vitamins, all that good stuff. Good luck!
