Mon-to-be and new to AR

Hi everyone! My name is Sara, I'm married to Joey, and I just moved to AR from Washington D.C. I am 13 weeks pregnant with our first child. I am looking for Dr. recommendations. All of the doctors at Creekside in Johnson, AR accept my insurance, but I wanted some recommendations on them first. Has anyone had any of the doctors at Creekside and would you recommend them??

  • Hi! I don't usually come to this board but just happened to see your post and have a word of advice. If you're going to go to Creekside, use Dr. Mason. A know several people who have used him and just love him. He delivered my bff's baby in May and did a great job! So, if you're set on Creekside, definitely go with him. However, if you have the option to use another hospital other than Willow Creek (for instance, I think Dr. Mason has privileges at Washington Regional as well,) I would choose the other hospital. Willow Creek is notorious for screwing up, be it on meds, billing, etc. With my sister's first child, she went into labor at 33 weeks, and they neglected to give her the necessary steriods to make the baby's lungs develop (like they're supposed to do when a baby is premature.) As a result, he was born with a condition called "sticky lung", which is where the outside of the lung wasn't completely formed and his lungs would stick to the inside of his ribcage when he inhaled. He was in the NICU for about 2 weeks before he got to go home. Also, my mom had a hysterectomy at Willow Creek and they left a surgical instrument inside of her and they had to go in and remove it. So, I never recommend Willow Creek to anyone. I personally am using Dr. Smith at Pinnacle Women's Health Care in Rogers (the office is on the 3rd floor of the JB Hunt/NBC building on Pinnacle Hills Parkway.) I absolutely love love love him. He is very patient, always has time to answer questions, and if you need him on the weekends you just call the office and he'll call you back. So, if you're not 100% sold on Creekside, I'd say call Pinnacle and see if they take your insurance there. With Dr. Smith, you have the option to deliver either at Mercy or at Northwest Bentonville. I chose Mercy because I've been to both facilities and I liked the facilities and staff at Mercy much better. Anyway, that's about all I have. HTH! Welcome and congrats! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

  • Hi there and welcome to AR.  I'm new to the message boards and wanted to offer my two cents as well.  I agree with amelia.  I have friends who have delivered at Willow Creek without problems, but several of my close family members are in the medical field and they have had experience with several patients who have had issues at Willow Creek.  Please remember that it is not a hospital and there is a risk that one of you may be separated and transferred to Washington Regional (or another local hospital) if complications arise.  It's just my opinion, but I highly discourage using Willow Creek.

There are a lot of great doctors in the area, but I use Dr. T Hal Bradford with Accent Women's Health in Fayetteville.  I've been with him for over five years now and have been very happy.  Good luck and congrats!

  • I don't know any of the doctors in that area, I'm in the Little Rock area myself. I just wanted to say Hi and Welcome.
