I'm overweight and ttc, not obese, but overweight for my height. I'm perfectly healthy, no high blood pressure, or choloesterol, blood sugar is fine, go to the gym regularly, etc. But...I do need to drop some weight. I have a few questions
1. how overweight were you pre pregnancy?
2. how much did you gain during your pregnancy
3. how hard was it to take off the weight after pregnancy
A friend of mine was overweight when she became pregnant and only gained about 15lbs during pregnancy. She actually ended up losing the baby weight, as well as some additional weight while she was breast feeding. She's now in a smaller size than she was before she got pregnant!
her doctor said he thinks it might have something to do with the fact that she was eating healthier while she was pregnant and while she was nursing. Wasn't sure if this was the norm, or if she was just totally lucky!
Thanks!
I'm also going to post this on 3rd tri
Re: overweight and pg...how much have you or did you gain?
I'm 5'4" and weighed 235 PPG. Before my 8 week appointment, I was down to 220 due to m/s. I haven't been on a scale yet, but ever since that appointment I've been fluctuating between 220-224.
HTH!
I'm around 40-50 lbs over weight. So far I've gained 6-8 lbs, depending on the time I get weighed.
I've eaten a lot healthier since getting pregnant. I've been craving fruits and veggies since day one and the 1st tri I couldn't go near a fast food place.
I am 5'2 and 220 pre-pregnancy, so far I have gained 4 lbs, I only had a couple days of full blown m/s, and my doc has not told me how much to gain throughout the entire preg.
With my 1st pregnancy:
1. 20lbs overweight prepregnancy
2. 30lbs gained
3. I lost 20, then gained 15 back
(
With this pregnancy:
1. 35lbs overweight
2. at 16wks (last weigh in) I was only up 1lb
3. Making an effort to be more active & healthy.
I was overweight before getting pregnant with DS, I gained a total of 22lbs and dropped the weight pretty quickly after having him but when he was eight months old I put a few back on.
When I found out I was pregnant I was 10lbs heavier than I am now. I have yet to reach my weight I was at when I found out I was pregnant. I have gained a couple pounds and lost a few pounds so I have been going up and down, still below the weight I was at when I got my BFP. There hasn't been too much concern just yet about my weight now that the morning sickness has calmed down. I'm just hoping my weight loss hasn't affected the baby but my OB doesn't seem concerned just yet. HTH
Hi,
My goal weight is 150 and I was 172 when I got pregnant. My doctor said 25-35 lbs. as I'm in perfect health otherwise.
So far I'm up 8 lbs at 14 weeks. Right on track according to my doctor.
I was told by my MIL that whatever you gain in the first trimester is what you will have to struggle getting off afterwards. She was a nurse and it seems to be the rule in this neck of the woods. I ate like crap because of stress and if I didn't I likely would have only gained about 5. Oh well...three lbs...no biggie.
I agree with her Dr. I'm about to start a pilates and yoga program that will help me get toned and I now swim 3-4 X a week for 45 min. I also am starting to use a food journal and weight what I eat to make sure I'm only adding 300 extra calories a day as recommended by my doctor.
I think she was just totally lucky. It's not a time to diet or worry about your weight. Just make sure you meet the milestones recommended by your doctor.
:-)
i'm 5'5, and was 169 lbs before i was pregnant. i went up and down in weight (even lost 6 pounds at about week 13), but on Dec 2nd (my last appt), i was 180. right on track.
i've always eaten fairly healthy, but i have noticed that my metabolism has picked up during pregnancy (tmi, probably, but i'm pooping far more often than i used to!).
my next appt is thursday, and i'm pretty curious where i am...
