  • I gained 11 lbs in 4 weeks at my last appointment. I think it's OK as long as it's not a monthly pattern. And besides, it's the holidays!
  • my appointment is in a few hours and i'm dreading the scale.... LO seems extra hungry this month and with the holidays..... uuuugh!

i've only gained 8 so far, so fingers crossed!

This is exaclty what happened to me and when I went in today, I only gained 2 pounds!  I have to admit, I was quite proud of myself.  I guess baby just had a growth spurt last time.

  • yeah holidays during pregnancy is so not fair :P Im dreading my wednesday weigh in!! lol
  • I just stepped on my scale this morning and was surprised how much I've gained in 3 weeks. I can't remember exactly how much I was at my last appointment, but I think I've gained like 4-5 pounds...which isn't a crazy amount, but I'm starting overweight so I'm trying to keep my weight gain at 20. (My own plan, doctor hasn't mentioned limiting to 20)

  • I have gained exactly a pound a week since I got pregnant, so don't feel bad.  The nurse said that some people gain hardly any (or even lose) at first because of morning sickness, then they catch up towards the end.  She said others have a big spurt between 11-28 weeks, then they slow down.  It will all even out I suppose. My mom said she gained half her weight in the first few months, so I'm hoping this is what happens to me, too!

  • I already gained enough before Christmas and now I am very frightened by my next weigh in. I am still working out 5 days a week but I guess he's hungry or there is a lot of fluid in there. I hoping you do slow down in the end bc at this rate I will gain about 40-50lbs
  • I was up like 3lbs at my last appt.  I'm hoping this appt won't be too much, but i'm afraid!  I haven't really gained (and i never lost to start with) so I'm afraid i'm going to gain a bunch in the next few weeks.

    Sigh...

  • I gained 10 lbs. in 4 weeks right after Turkey Day!

You sound like you're doing everything "right". I wouldn't worry too much about it. I gained 40 w/ my DD. As soon as she was born I lost 20 lbs, and by 6 months PP I was thinner than before I had become pregnant.

And to the OP, I know how you feel. I gained 10 at my last appt, which has been all cookie weight (I had gotten where I was eating holiday cookies every day). But, from my previous experience, I think it'll be ok as long as it's not a continued trend every month. It was a nice little wake up call for me.

  • Um...15 in one month is a lot. If you start to swell, call your doctor. Excessive fast weight gain can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.
