Yummy smoothie options?

I made a smoothie of sorts last night out of 1/2 cup skim milk, a banana and some Nutella and it was HEAVEN.

Anyone have any tried and true delicious recipes for smoothies? I'm looking to get another serving or 1/2 serving of calcium.

Also: anyone have any tips for good brands of frozen berries? I tried some once from Trader Joe's and was shocked to discover they didn't taste that good. :(

  • I used to make smoothies w/ protein powder, but you can do them w/o it also.

Chocolate one: choc protein powder, choc soy milk, ice, 1 banana, 1 T peanut butter, a little honey.

Vanilla one: vanilla protein powder, vanilla or plain soymilk, fresh berries (whatever kind), 1 banana, a little honey.  Instead of berries it was also yummy w/ pineapple or oranges.

OMG I have the stuff to make these, except for the protein powder. Maybe a tiny dash of vanilla extract for the vanilla one? Thank you so much!

  • for extra calcium, what about plain or vanilla yogurt?  It will make it thicker and it's still sweet.

I make smoothies with yogurt, calcium fortified OJ, protein powder, frozen berries, and usually a banana or whatever fruit is on the verge of over-ripe.

  • I use organic frozen berries b/c strawberries in particular take in immense amounts of pesticides.  I get whatever brand they have at my grocery store.

I use berries, OJ, fresh ginger and plain yogurt.  The ginger is especially tasty!

    This :)

And the pp who said she used milk, chocolate protein powder, peanut butter and a banana...DH adds a scoop of fat free frozen yogurt to that combo and it is DELICIOUS :)

    Happy smoothie making!

I'm wondering about chocolate yogurt now, LOL. Mmmm. It has less sugars than Jello pudding, that's for sure.
