2nd Trimester

Weird but Serious question...

Ok this might sound weird and I might make a complete fool of myself but O well...Have any of you had increased SNEEZING since you got PG?! I know it sounds weird but WOW, I have been sneezing SO MUCH since I got PG that I've had 2 minor nose bleeds. And the other day I sneezed 5 times in a row. That's NEVER happened before. I know it's not a cold or anything because It's just sneezing and nothing else and it's lasted about 14 weeks straight! My mom even commented on it and was like "You need to ask if that comes with Pregnancy and we don't know about it b/c my GOD you've been sneezing a lot since you got Pregnant!"...So, as weird as it sounds, am I alone in this?!

  • No, you are not alone.  I have noticed I've been sneezing a LOT more as well.  No idea why or what it may mean.

  • Loading the player...
  • I've read that it's normal because of the hormones.

  • Me, too.  I am chalking it up to coincidence, but let me know if I am wrong.

Oh I just read that article about rhinitis - touche!

  • I've been sneezing alot more and it's alot more forceful than before. I just figured because I'm more congested then usual that my nose is more sensitive! HTH!
  • all the freaking time...
  • Funny, I was just thinking about how much I was sneezing lately this morning and wondered if we had mold in the house or something. I didn't even connect it to pregnancy.

     Nope! You're not alone!

  • I often have sinus issues that combine nausea ('head" nausea--not stomach nausea) and sneezing. I find that the sinus issue has increased in frequency since bfp.
  • I sneeze 4594384 times a day it seems... have you ever got a little pain in your lower abdomen when you sneeze? I have a couple times, didn't know if I should worry about that?
  • Yes, I have. It's very common in pregnancy. My OB put me on allergy medicine too. I have way more sinus headaches also. Fun times.

That sounds like rlp. Since your muscles are adjusting already, the added shock from the sneeze can cause it to pull a little.

  • Yep, normal.  Pregnancy can also make any allergies hyper-active, so if you tend to get seasonal allergies, they can be worse than usual.  I feel like I've had a cold for 3 months - but no, just pregnant!

  • I have it too, and I understand it is normal.  Pregnancy causes you to buildup all kinds of extra fluids...CM, boogers, water ect.
  • It has something to do with the increased mucous production.
  • There is not a day that goes by that I have not sneezed. Even before I was pg. ( I attribute that to my mothers inability to quit smoking) along with allergies.

However, my sneezing has increased significantly. To the point where everyone thought I had a cold at work all the time. I kept telling them that soon they would recognize me as the " habitual sneezer" and now that I have worked here for a while, they are used to it.

  • No! You are not alone! I have been meaning to do a post about this, but just forgot (surprise!). I do not have allergies, I am not a sickly person, and I swear I sneeze about as much as I pee these days! I was also having the bloody & stuffy nose, and I read on babycenter that this is common and you start to notice it around the 14-15th weeks! I was relieved. I got a humidifer...hasn't helped that much, but I don't wake up with stuffy nose headaches anymore.

No, you shouldn't worry...I did a post about the pain when sneezing the other day, and my fellow bumpies assured me it's normal!

  • I have had nosebleeds since around 9 weeks, and now I have had the sneezing since about 16 weeks!!  You're not alone!  :)

  • At first I just thought it was because I stopped taking my Claritin.  Nope, it's cause I'm pregnant.  Don't know why it happens though.
