Name Opinion...

on George. It is a family name on both sides of our family but we aren't quite sure if its our name yet. I am just wondering what others think about. Also, if you have any middle name suggestions or first names that will go well with George as a mn, I would love to hear them. TIA!

Re: Name Opinion...

  • I love George.  DH's little brother is named George, and I thinks it's adorable, classic, and unique for today.  Love it.

  • My gpa was George (loved him) and DHs friend is George and he's great too- I like it.  If you're not sold, what about using George as a middle name instead?

  • To be honest, I am not big on George. Reminds me of an old man.
  • I think of George from Seinfeld.
  • My sisters married brothers who are Greek, and in tradition the first son is named after the grandfather (I think its the grandfather...). Anyway, so both their oldest sons are named George. I'm not a huge fan of the name but it is nice. I like George William.
  • I honestly think that in this day and age, George should be a middle name. I love that you want to use a Family name because we're doing that as well, but if it were me, I would use it as a middle. =) Good luck!

  • I prefer it as a middle name...

I'm a teacher and most of the kids with the more traditional first names go by something different nowadays...

i.e. Frank = Paddy (adorable Irish boy)

Samuel (which I like) = Cooper

    These aren't middle names though...

    This.

  • I really like it!  I'm a big fan of names with history, and I love older sounding names. I also love the sound of Henry George if you want to use it as a middle name.  George is a very popular name in the UK, so you might check out the London Telegraph birth announcements (beware, it's addictve!) GL!

  • Not really a fan of it either...I've known a couple of kid Georges and they were nice enough kids, but the other kids would tease them...
  • George is our back up boys name. It's my FIL's name and I think it's a classic.

  • I think George is so cute.  There was a boy I went to school with that dated my friend's little sister.  He was 2 or 3 years younger than me and I thought it was such an adorable BIG name for such a small/younger guy.  I think I even listed this on my name suggestions but DH vetoed it.

  • I like George! It reminds me of Harry Potter, and how the good people had normal names and the bad people had names like Draco and Pansy, LOL.

  • I like it!  But like some other posters, I like the traditional, classic names for boys.

George also makes me think of George Clooney...mmmmm  :)
