2nd Trimester

movement ?

I should know this, but last night I felt tons of movement for the first time, but way higher than I would have expected.  An inch or 2 above the belly button.  It went on and on and I couldn't find the hb for more than 2 seconds (busy little thing).  I know I am measuring about 1 week ahead (or was at 11 weeks).  I just thought that seemed really high, but I definitely know what movement feels like.

Re: movement ?

  • Hmm.  I know at 18 weeks, the top of your uterus is about an inch below your belly button, so it does seem weird that you'd feel something that high.

  • This is my first go around with pregnancy, but I am still feeling just below my belly button....occasionally right at belly button, but nothing above at this point.

Could it be organs moving??  (after I typed that, I realize that organs shouldn't feel like what the baby movement feels like, but what do I know?!)

  • I didn't feel any movement above my belly button until just last night. I'm almost 25w. Everything constant up until then had always been below the belly button. But now she's active this morning again and movement is kind of right in the middle, floating around my belly button.

    This.

  • Your ute may be higher since this is your 2nd one. I don't know if it would be that high so I would think it's more of your stomach doing weird things.

  • My first question would be, were you slouching?  Even though your ute may not measure above your belly button when laying down, when you're sitting, you could certainly feel movement a bit higher.

I feel LO's kicks just below my ribs when I'm sitting on the couch, but when I'm standing or laying down they're always at or below my belly button.

I get this, but it doesn't help answer my question.

Interesting.  Yeah, that could be part of it.  I was really intrigued.  Thanks.

Do you know where your uterus is? Since this is baby #2 you could have expanded quicker making it baby movement? If it's not past your belly button then I would guess it was something else.
