Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Bath Time?

When does your baby take a bath?  I have noticed when many of you list your schedule you list bath at night time.  I usually bathe my son after his morning nap.  Those who bathe at night do you feel helps him/her sleep better or just preference.  My son has ezcema and in the morning he has really dry scalp so an oatmeal bath seems to really help soften up the skin so he can enjoy his day.

Re: Bath Time?

  • We do it at night b/c we both work and it's the only time.  Also, I think it's one of those things that helps him realize that it's time to wind down.

  • We give DS his bath at night, and it seems to help him relax and get out that last little bit of engergy with all the splashing. Our evenings used to be really hard because he would fight going to sleep, but since we got a little routine going, it is much easier. But, it's whatever works best for you :)

  • On weekends I do during the day. During the week I do it when she gets home from the sitter at 5:30. She isnt one of those babies relaxed by it at bedtime, she gets all riled up...LOL. BTW, what oatmeal bath do you use? DD has eczema and the poor thing is always clawing at her belly every chance she gets.
  • We do it at bedtime. It does seem like after all the playing it helps him relax and go to sleep though. I like to keep some kind of routine and we're not able to do it most mornings.

  • Night time, gets rid of any spit up/drool that has collected in her neck, hair, hands, arms etc. It also seems to wind her right down. She knows now that bath time means bedtime. I have a hard time keeping her awake while I get her dressed after.

  • He takes a bath right before bed.  I think it helps him because it creates a routine.
