What new gear, furniture, or whatever are you getting for your baby? We don't know what baby #2 will be yet, but I am thinking at minimum: new crib bedding, new burp cloths, hooded towels, double stroller, some new clothes (definitely new clothes if its a girl since we have a boy now). I am wrestling with wanting new furniture however because we have Storkcraft and our crib has had TWO major recalls! My husband is convinced its fine because we have made all the replacements so I am stumped on how to justify the expense.
Also, I keep thinking I want a new diaper bag.
I am trying to be frugal (which is my nature) but I also want to enjoy this and have fun! This could be our last time preparing for a baby and decorating a nursery.
What are you thinking/getting?
Re: For those of you working on baby #2
As little as possible:
1. A new baby carrier - a Baby Hawk or an Ergo
2. probably a second crib - doubt DS will be ready to transition at 21 months
3. Clothes - will need regardless of gender due to season
4. double stroller
That's it!Double stroller (not sure which one as I hate them all!)
A better sling (moby or baby k'tan...I need to have a more secure and comfy sling as I will be wearing him/her more)
Clothes if it is a boy. Won't need a thing if it is a girl as the season's match.
Another miracle blanket
All nursery furniture of dd will be moved to new baby. We are going to buy dd new furniture (used actually:).
Seriously debating a video monitor this time around.
Cam 6.6.10 - Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Mixed Receptive/Expressive Communication Disorder
We are trying to be frugal too but we gave away a lot every time I would hear of a single mom with no money.
I'm getting 3 new mini cribs (giving away DD's big crib), used triple stroller, new burp cloths and wash cloths, more cloth diapers on top of what we already have, clothes (we are loving the hand-me-downs/new clothes too), new diaper bag, 2 bouncy chairs and 3 bumbo's.
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
Heres the wishlist Ive been drafting for my blog
? City Mini Double or Valco Ion or Valco Latitude Twin
? A super yard -
(for either 'protecting' the newborn or containing the toddler or BOTH.)
? Either a stand for the moses basket or a bassinet.
? New Cover for the carseat!
? New Baby Bathtub
? Miracle Wrap
? Another Monitor
? ANOTHER Crib.
? a GI-freaking-NORMOUS Diaper Bag
? A new car with a 3rd row?!?!
(I said it was a WISH list people!!)
Here are some more likely unnecessary 'wants':
? new & super easy carrier (any ideas? maybe a sling?)
? white noise machine to keep newborn sleeping thru tantrums.
I don't know if you did the white noise machine with your previous babies but we tried to employ the 5 S's as much as possible with our son and the sound machine was awesome. I would highly recommend one and they are not very expensive.
We used a fan for white noise and it was the best thing we ever did. I could do the same thing next time I guess.
I?ve been thinking aboutthis a lot lately, probably too much. So far?
A new crib and mattress forbaby #2 or a twin bed for DD
Crib bedding
Another video monitor
Another baby carrier?I?mthinking about an ergo or beco to have in addition to my PPB sling.
A swing (I borrow one lasttime)
New bottles
Diaper bag
If it is a boy:

1. a sit-n-stand stroller
2. New crib sheets and a dust ruffle. We're using DS' crib and some gorgeous bumpers from the ILs.
3. Some new clothes (different season)
4. probably a co-sleeper/minicrib/bassinet. We didn't get one with DS but our new room is much better suited for one
5. A better infant carrier - either an infant insert for my Ergo or a Moby or ring sling
6. a few new cloth diapers to replace the ones DS has, ahem, loved quite a bit
7. Standard disposable stuff: nursing pads, breastmilk bags, etc.
8. bouncy seat or swing (ours broke)
