3rd Trimester

Dizzy/shaky when hungry- anyone else?

This has been going on about a week now.  I eat three meals a day, plus snacks.  Today for breakfast, I ate toast with peanut butter (7:30 a.m) and had a banana for a snack at about 10:00 a.m.  I went to Target and the grocery store.  All of a sudden; I got extremely hungry, dizzy, shaky, tired, and sweaty.  I went home, ate lunch (pigged out), and felt better in a little while.  My blood sugar level was apparently low.

I didn't have this issue earlier in my pregnancy, but it's been happening daily for about a week now.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  My next appointment is in a week, so I'm going to ask about it then.  It's a pretty severe reaction, but I definitely feel like I'm getting plenty of food.

Thanks.

  • That happens to me.

  • Yes, it fvcking sucks, and they'll probably do nothing about it.  I can't wait to be "normal" again.  Good luck.

  • I get this from time to time when I get super hungry.  Like today, I didn't eat much breakfast, slept through lunch (battling a nasty cold) and now I'm waiting for dinner to be delivered.  Started getting the shakes and had to eat something to get me by.  I don't know if it's normal, but I do experience it.

  • This happens to me at work for the last week or so. I find just keeping some juice with me helps it out a lot! I was told its just where LO is growing so much so fast now she is taking so much more from me.

  • Thank you.  It's good to know I'm not the only one.

  • Yes, this happens to me and did pre-pregnancy as well. It seems to be when I eat something sugary for breakfast and then don't eat for a couple hours. Like my sugar levels drop too fast or something. It's not fun!
  • i felt this way my first pregnancy and it turned out i was pretty anemic.  have you been tested yet?  mention it to your dr because you may just need a simple iron supplement.
  • yes this also happens to me.
  • I've also gotten dizzy/light headed, but for no apparent reason. My OB said it's probably because I have low blood pressure and to make sure and stay super hydrated...I probably wasn't drinking enough and have been monitoring more closely.

I was tested and in the normal range.  However, it was on the low end.  I'll definitely ask about it during my next appointment.  Thank you.

  • This happens to me too and I am anemic and on an iron supplement for it. It happened before I was pregnant too, but not as frequently and not as easily (I had to go much longer without eating). Not sure if it is related to the low iron. Now I just try to remind myself to snack even if I am n

ot hungry and try to keep something with me in case I am out.

  • I have the same thing. I've had low b.s. for a long time though and pregnancy has not helped. The biggest thing for me is to make sure I get enough protein to keep my sugars level and then I won't have a serious drop. Make sure to keep some peanut butter crackers, string cheese, beef jerky, etc. in your purse at all times.
