I use my KitchenAid immersion blender for almost everything. It goes right into whatever pot/bowl I'm using and the blade part can go in the dishwasher.

My parents got us a Beaba Babycook and it's been working great so far. They carry it at Williams-Sonoma. It's pretty expensive, though. If it hadn't been a gift, I wouldn't have spent the money on it and would just have made do with a hand-crank food mill or my Cuisinart Mini Prep.
