Just put the kids down for a nap. Stupid.

I hate, HATE putting the kids down for a nap anytime after 3, but they so needed it.  They were both big, crying messes and after just minutes of rocking and books, they are both sounds asleep in their beds.

Usually we push on through, but then the kids still don't go down until 7:30, and then are up early and are over tired and it's just such a bad cycle.

Does this happen to you?  #2 slept this morning, but not for nearly long enough.

If they're super tired at 4, what do you normally do?

I'm wondering if it's wine time now...

  • I just put K down, too. She's a whiny wreck, only napped for an hour earlier today, and was up eleventy billion times last night.

    I think it's teeth.

  • It only happens with DD so far, but I usually put her in the playroom with the lights off and t.v. on low for downtime. It usually recharges her and she gets a second wind to get through to bedtime.

  • For some reason, my boys do ok with late naps.  If we are visiting family during the afternoon, a lot of times we will get there and do lunch and visit and then head home around 4 - boys will fall asleep on the hour drive home and we put them in bed till 6:30, and they still go to bed between 8 and 8:30.  But even on a normal day, they go down around 2 and my toddler is usually not up till 5:30.
