My twins are two weeks old today and my husband is starting to spend mornings back at work. Our girls are pretty much on the same schedule and I usually feed one while he feeds the other. They are on a combination of pumped BM & 22 Calorie formula. Neither will latch for very long on the breast. I am having a hard time figuring out how I am going to feed them at the same time while he is gone. We currently feed them their bottles sitting upright, not lying down. They are just so tiny and i am not comfortable getting all situated by myself. PLease tell me what you mom's do? i really want to keep them on the same schedule. does the podee bottle system work? I need help, I am beside myself! TIA
Re: Please help w/feeding two at the same time
I didn't have DH here for the first 5 weeks so I had to come up with something too in order to get both fed around the same schedule...what I did was staggered them apart about 15-20 min. It took a couple times to get it going, but once I did, it made feeding one and doing a quick burp; then the other one wakes and repeat. I usually then do a diaper change back to back and then more burping if each or one needs more.I then try to pump a bit before or after their feedings so I'm not in the dilemma of having to pump with two babies ready to be fed!
You probably already do this, but have the bottles prepared beforehand so that you don't have to lose time doing the mixing, etc.

I have a hard time with this, sometimes, and find that the easiest way to do it is to use two boppies. I lay them down, one on each side, and stop in between for a burp. It's not the most ideal situation, but it works. The bouncy seat thing doesn't really work for me because, like you said, my girls were/are so tiny (only 4.5lbs when I brought them home) and they pretty much disappear when I set them in bouncy seats. GL!
bouncy seats or boppys. also, in order to use podees the baby has to have a strong (and i mean strong) suck that's consistent.... my two can't suck hard enough for them yet, and if they break the suction, they have to start all over again.
i found something called a keep it up bottle holder at burlington coat factory last week that works very well.... it's a circular pillow with a hole in the center and beans at the bottom. stick the bottle in the hole, position it with the beans at the bottom, and prop on their lap. works wonders!
i would hold one in my arm's cradled, and sit indian style and lay one in my lap. hold a bottle in both hands and feed them. i wish i had a picture... but this would work pretty good while they were little. i could bounce my legs if i had to burp one and soothe the other.
by all means though keep them on the same schedule as much as you can!!! even if you have to wake the other up!! otherwise you will be up constantly feeding and diapering!!
