Did your preemie tend to follow general nap schedules by their adjusted age?
I'm just curious - Andrew is almost 9 months adjusted (12 months actual) and he still takes 3 naps. We let him sleep when he's tired and eat when he's hungry (no schedule). It seems most term babies transition around 6-8 months old but some maybe as old as 9 months-ish.
Andrew still gets really tired (rubbing eyes, whining) after being awake just 2 hours, or less in the morning.
Not that it really matters, but I was curious if this is because his little body is working hard to catch up, or maybe it's just him. :-)
I'm generally thinking not to push him and just let him do what he does, but I was curious what others experienced.
Edit: This is what he does most days
7 am wake up
9-10 nap, 12-1 nap, 3:30-4:30 nap
asleep before 7
Re: naps for preemie?
Brendan was still taking 3 naps until a couple months ago (maybe 15 months actual, now he does 2 naps (1 - early afternoon and 1- evening) and then goes to bed at 9/930 wakes up at 9/930 a.m. That is his usual we didn't set it ...he did luckily.
They say that you should use adjusted age for sleeping, but our boys have always followed their actual age more. They take 2 naps now.
Our day is:
6:30 wakeup
9-10:45 nap
1:30-2:30 nap
6:15 bed
They STTN and have been since 4 months actual. They also get 3-4 bottles and eat 3 solid meals. Our day is very scheduled which sucks in some ways, but always is almost a necessity with 2 of them!
