Babies: 3 - 6 Months

anyone remember ...

how far along you were when you started feeling movement?  My cousin is 21 weeks and swears she hasn't really felt anything yet ...  I'm pretty sure I started feeling little stuff at 16 wks and bigger stuff at 18 weeks.  I keep wondering what's goin on with her ...

Re: anyone remember ...

  • I think it was around twenty or so weeks that I really started feeling pops and stuff.  Maybe she has a placenta that is in front so she isn't feeling anything yet.

  • I started feeling movement at 18 weeks but no real kicks until 21 weeks.
  • i felt stuff at 15 weeks but my friend didnt feel anything til almost 28 weeks! i think it depends alot on your size too!
  • I think it was around 19 weeks. Some people feel it much later than others. My mom said she never felt anything until 24 weeks. And she was anything but overweight.

Is it possible that your friend could have placenta previa?

  • I think I was around 18 or so weeks when I felt flutters because I had Placenta Previa.

  • Felt it the first time 15wks 6days. Some have that placenta that's toward the belly button (forget what they call it) and delays feeling the movements.

she doesn't have placenta previa ...  and she's tiny!

  • Those that feel it later usually have an anterior placenta.  Where the placenta is in front and acts like a pillow so the mom doesn't feel it till the baby gets bigger and more forceful.  Look at the Link below and look at the location section.  There is nothing wrong with having that it is just the position of the placenta and where the baby implanted.

I am tiny, normal placenta.  I did not feel anything until 23 weeks with my first, about 21 weeks with my second, and 18 weeks with number three.

  • 22 or 23 weeks.  It seemed like forever!!

But, I am plus sized, and was made aware it could take longer for me to feel him.

  • If she has an anterior placenta it can take a long time for her to feel movement.

I had 2 of them and the only reason I felt the boys at 16 weeks was because I am tiny anf they were bumping into each other.

  • I felt DS early, around 14-15 weeks, but big kicks a little later. She also could be feeling things and confusing it with gas because those early movements for me felt JUST like gas!!

  • For me it was early, 14-15 weeks. He turned out to be quite the mover later in the pregnancy... and he is a very active baby!

  • She most likely has an anterior placenta. Kicks before 28 weeks are sporadic anyway because of how small the baby is and its position. Kick couints don't become as important until she is in her 3rd tri, after 28 weeks. I don't think it depends on size too much. I'm far from tiny and felt movement/kicks/flutters at 17 weeks.

this exactly! I had many Dr's appts and all said I had a more than normal active baby and it nothing's changed lol.

  • That's still in the normal range. I felt one kick around 15 weeks and then thought maybe I had fooled myself, because I really didn't feel solid movement after that until b/t 21-22 weeks. There's really no cause for concern all the way up to 24-26 weeks.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • It was right around 18 weeks that I felt the pops, but it was another week or so before I was sure it was actually the baby I was feeling.

If she has an anterior placenta she wouldn't feel movement for quite a while.

  • 20 weeks for "bubbles" and 25 for real kicks.
  • I would have to say 20-21weeks I felt the bubbles/pops and around 25wks I was able to feel actual movement.
  • movement, like 18 weeks - at first i just thought it was gas.  real kicks though, were later.
  • I was about 23 weeks, I asked the doctor and she said that if you have a really active job or you are a really active person, you may feel them and have no idea because you aren't paying attention. I know that when I first felt him, I was laying in bed, just woke up for the morning.
  • I was 18 weeks exactly. we were in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in DC, and I felt him kick!
  • I think right before 20 weeks. If you have an anterior placenta you may feel movement later.
  • small stuff at 20 weeks, no major movement until like 24 weeks - and i was carrying 2!

  • I didn't feel real movement until closer to 25 weeks.  I had an anterior placenta tho so that was one reason why it was harder for me to feel anything.
  • I think I was around 22w or so. I had an anterior placenta so that was blocking me feeling any movement for a while.

  • I don't think I felt real movement until 23-25 weeks.  That was the late end of the spectrum as I remember.

  • I first started to feel flutters around 15 weeks.  I really started to feel the kicks around 20-22 weeks. I miss it!
