Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Babbling Question

My son so far doesn't babble any consonants. He oohs and ahhs and blows a zillion raspberries a day and makes noise but no mama, no dada, no lala. Is this normal? Everything else he is doing is right on track, he has great gross and fine motor skills and I know he can hear.

Re: Babbling Question

  • Totally normal! Just keep talking and babbling to him, you'll hear something soon!

  • kids typically develop faster in either motor or speech, so it sounds like your son is developing in his motor skills faster. There is no reason to be concerned at this age, unfortunately it's just a waiting game at this point. It sounds like your on top of your LO's development. I'd give it at least to 12 months before you are concerned. Just continue reading to him, holding him in your lap while he can watch you talk, sing songs, etc.,
