If your lo sucks their thumb..I have a question...

Dd sucks her thumb when she's tired or sleepy.

I have noticed that after the first few bites of her cereal, or purees she starts sucking her thumb.She will do it inbetween every bite! Once or twice I stopped and gave her bottle. Then I realized if I give her a bottle everytime, she's never going to get purees or anything.

Does anyone else's lo do this?

DS will but his thumb in his mouth but really isn't a thumb sucker yet.

DS will put his hands/finger/thumb to his mouth while he is being fed too. I just take it out and keep feeding him until he either finishes the cereal or puree or he turns his head letting me know he is done.

My DD did that when we first started purees, too.  She wasn't crazy about solids at first, and I think the thumb sucking was comforting to her.

I just let her have her thumb when she needed it and figured that if it was in her mouth, she wasn't ready for another bite.  She stopped sucking it during mealtimes at around 8 months.

Yes!  Lillian did this for a while when she was really hungry.  She grew out of it though.  I just had to be quicker with the spoon.  Enjoy the mess.
