Hypochondriac goes to L&D again

Yeah, just got back. I was having contractions every 10 minutes so I called and asked the Dr if I should come in and of course she said yes. So for for 3 hours they monitor me, do another FFN and send me home. Basically she says it was good that I came in because I was feeling different and she'd rather have me there for something minor than PTL.

I still feel like a crazy chick. ?The FFN was negative, hooray. the only bad report was that my cervix is short, which we already knew and I'm pretty sure that's why they told m to come in in the first place.?

This is SO DIFFERENT from my last pregnancy!! I NEVER went to the hospital at all last time! I didn't have contractions until the day of my c-section!!?

?I feel like a fool going there, but they said that anytime anything is different to come in right away.?

Re: Hypochondriac goes to L&D again

  • I am glad everything is OK!  I have been having BH like crazy lately and I am worried about my cervix shortening.

My Peri says the same thing... always go in if anything is different.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

Thank you. I guess i'd rather feel stupid than go into labor at my house or something . I think it's a control thing - I have NO CONTROL over how any of this is going to go, and I can't take it! Once I get to like, 35 weeks, I think I'll relax a little more. Maybe..

Did you scheduel a c-section fate yet? When does your Dr like to schedule, what week??

My doctor likes to deliver around 36 weeks.  If the babies stay put until then, he plans to do an amnio at 36 weeks to check for lung development and if all is OK, he'll take them via c-section.  No set date, though.

But with the news that my placenta has detached a bit in the corner, he is going to monitor me very closely and if anything looks "off" they can come at any time.  Scary, but he thinks everything will be just fine.  I have a growth scan tomorrow and we might talk steroid shots to be safe.

  • My theory, better to be checked than not. A multiples pg is SO different than most singleton pregnancies, so much can happen so fast..so it's good you went in.

  • Just wait until you think your water broke and you find out you peed your pants. Not that I would know anything about that.Embarrassed

  • You are not crazy at all -- if you are scared then go, you want to do everything you can to keep those babies in as long as possible!

  • I feel your pain. I am currently debating whether to call my doc today about some weird pains I'm having (see my post on SAIF for details) or just wait for my regular appt tomorrow morning. Since I'm a worrier by nature I don't know which worries to take seriously!

    glad everything is ok. :)

  • I'm glad you went in, don't ever feel bad about it. I've been in L&D so many times already...and am glad I have been, if not to just reassure me, but also b/c the last time I came they were able to stop labor. L&D is your friend:)

  • I was the same way with DD# 1. I only went to L & D 1 time with DD# 1. With my twins, I practically lived there. Better safe then sorry to go there. Good luck!
