I was told later in my pregnancy, when I threw my back out, that it was ok, just in moderation. But it made me nervous. I was worried about it raising my body temp too much, so I never got it hot enough to do any good.
I, personally, would not that early on, but I'm weird like that. Perhaps some tylenol instead? backrub from DH? that lower backache is really common in early pregnancy, should disipate in a couple weeks, max.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I used one every morning while I was doing PIO (the entire first trimester). I wouldn't put it on high (or on your belly), but it should be fine in moderation. Hope you feel better!
I was having bad back cramps early on and used a heating pad on my lower back. I made sure it was on a lower setting and it stayed put as I laid on it. You should be fine. Hope it starts feeling better. Tylenol might help out too.
