NBR: What color handbag would you get? Added a link!

My DH got me a Coach giftcard for Christmas (yay) and I am trying to figure out what to get. I NEED a big girl wallet because now I stuff everything into a wrislet and it's a mess. I want a handbag too, but I can't decide what color to buy. I am very practical so it's between black or brown. I have equal amounts of black and brown clothing/shoes and am leaning toward black. I don't know all of the rules about carrying a black handbag while wearing brown shoes...is this OK? What color would you get?

I added a link below

  • Rules, shmules. Get the one you like best! But if you're really worried about the "rules" get a camel colored one--that goes with both black and brown!

Edited. Why does it keep quoting the OP for me??? So annoying.

  • I would go brown.  I'm not a big fan of black purses (probably the minority on that).  To me, a brown bag goes better with black shoes than a black bag does with brown shoes.
  • If you get a black bag now, then you'll have to retire it come spring time (at least that's what I do). If you get a brown bag now you could use that well into spring. And like a pp said if you go with camel you can even carry that into the beginning of summer. Have fun shopping!
  • if you have equal amounts of bags and clothes I would choose the model I like regardless the color
  • Very nice - I like the camel. Otherwise, I would suggest going with a color to match everything. My Mom always buys her bags in colors like red, turquoise, etc.

  • What about something in mahogany leather?  DH promised me a trip to Coach for Christmas, and I'm looking at the Brooke in mahogany and brass.  It's brown enough to go with brown shoes, but also dark enough to not clash with black.  There is also a color called quartz that is more reddish, and would probably go well with black.  I always consider designer handbags to be an exception to fashion color rules.  I mean, think about Louis Vuitton.  If I spend $1,200 on a handbag, you better believe I'm wearing it with everything.
    I HAVE CHILDREN.

This is also my approach LOL.

In the Peyton one, I would go with the Camel.

  • I would get black only because that's what I mostly wear.  Along with the fact that my coat is black.  That doesn't help you though...either would look great!

  • I prefer brown over black in a wardrobe any day so go with the Camel.
