If you had a C-section...come in...

My surgery went great and I am barely bleeding at all. I am on Oxycodon as needed for pain and then Ibprophen (800mg) every 6 hours.

I slept really well in the hospital since I could move the bed up and down to get out. However, now at home, I layed down in bed (stupid) and could not get up (since I cannot use my ab muscles). I am now sleeping in my recliner.

Any suggestions for sleeping in a regular bed? I cannot sleep on my side yet - that hurts.

I forgot how I slept after my first section! :-)

  • i rolled out of bed, not unlike when i was pg and couldnt sit up then either :)

  • Try rolling to your side and then pushing yourself up with your arms. You can also "splint" your incision by holding a pillow or rolled up towel against it when you move/cough/sneeze.

I googled "getting out of bed after c section" and a few sites with step by step instructions came up, if that's helpful to you. :)

  • I piled up a bunch of pillows and made a sort of "wedge" so I could sleep propped up. My belly felt so gross if I tried to roll over or sleep anywhere but flat on my back. A recliner would probably be the best solution for the first week or so though.

This is what I do too.

  • I slept propped up on pillows (almost like sitting half way up) for the first few weeks. I also did the wiggle to the edge of the bed and pulled up with my arms.

This.  I remember it hurting to lay on my side but rolling was quick so that wasn't horrible to get out of bed.  You can also hold a pillow over your belly when you roll to help hold things and that helps the pain also.

  • Scary thing is mine was only 3 1/2 weeks ago and I barely remember the first week home at night. I think I just scooted down to the foot of the bed since my LO's PnP in on my side of the bed. Good Luck. I hope you are feeling better soon.
