Over the past few days my son has started to go pee on the toilet. Usually we have to ask him if he's ready to go and when he says yes, we take him and he goes. However, he has "told" us he's ready to go by grabbing at his diaper once or twice. He still has wet diapers throughout the day, though.
Will he be off diapers soon or is this a long process?
Re: How long does potty training take from start to finish?
Once I officially trained DD it only took 1 day. I put her in panties one day and that was that. She had an accident on day 3, but we haven't looked back. However, she had been peeing on the potty off and on for several months (like 6+ mths) prior to that, I just didn't feel as if she was really ready to PT until she was 2.5 y/o. I'm glad that I waited until she was truly ready, because it was amazingly easy, I'm not sure if she would have trained so easily had I tried to PT her any sooner.

DD does the same thing, but I am NOT dedicated to PT her...obviously being this pg (I'm due in two weeks), I don't really have the drive, and I am sure that when the baby comes she'll regress anyways. I just take her when she asks, and I'm happy with that.
From what I've read, it totally depends on the kid. I think if they are truly ready, then it can be quick, but if it's done to early, then it can take a long time.
Oh...and DD's pants are already too big around the waist...even with cloth diapers...we'd be toast if she had to wear panties (and I have yet to find any that will fit her!)
