DD has been doing log-like poops...I usually do a little prune juice mixed with formula but was wondering what other moms do to rid their LOs of constipation? Since starting cereal her constipation has gotten worse bc of the iron...poor monkey..TIA
I think that warm baths really helped dd the most. I BF so as soon as she started solids her bms changed sooo much and she was miserable. It seems like she's finally getting used to it, I try and give her prunes every other day which helps too.
The cereals constipated my DS#1 so badly that we stopped them altogether and he did fine on the fruits and veggies plain. The doc even said that he didn't need the cereals as they are fortified with iron which he had plenty of in his formula. Also, anything with a P will help with constipation meaning pears, peaches, prunes and peas.

DD gets clogged every so often. In addition to prunes mixed in her food I have given her prune juice and water 50/50 mix. My pedi said it is fine to give her an ounce per month of age. A few weeks ago I gave her the mix and her bottle and she went within an hour and felt good for a week.

50/50 water:juice (apple or prune). Works like a charm. Prunes never helped her pass the stools. She has gotten really compacted before and we had to resort to an infant glyercin suppository. Be ready in 10 minutes with that method!
It sounds like her stools are pretty hard. I would give her prunes (puree) at every feeding, as well as make her cereal with prune juice, until she has some softer BMs. And try oatmeal cereal instead of rice.

A mixture of prunes and peaches works well for DS.
Good luck!
