So MIL and SIL were watching Eve at my house today. SIL
had gone out for a bit, so MIL was here with the baby alone and with no
car. This was around 6pm.. so it was dark out.. A man in a SANTA
suit, with a bag.. came to the door, rang the doorbell, I guess looked
through the front door window, and MIL "waved him away". So he got in a
car and left. She said it was an older man, but she didn't really see
the car well.
MIL was apparently concerned it was someone
trying to rob us, but didn't feel the need to tell us, or call the
police until DH got home at like 11:30 tonight..
DH called the
police at like 1 am.. they had no other reports of anything like that in the area..
and they are keeping extra watch on our house, at least for tonight..
Part
of me is thinking it was like a neighbor or something or just someone
in the neighborhood.. but part of me thinks that it was someone looking
for an empty house.
Hopefully DH can talk to our super nosy
neighbor tomorrow morning and he will know something about it and/or at
least keep close watch on our house for awhile.

That is freaky! We had a freaky thing about a moth ago - I don't think I ever mentioned it on here.
A guy in a white pick up came to the house when I was at work and DH was home with the baby. He told DH he talked to me and I was interested in buying the "Meat and Seafood" he sold from the cooler in his truck. DH didn't believe him, but then the guy was all like ya she said it was busy with the new baby and to just stop by. And then he kept asking questions about the baby. So DH told him to come back the next day and that I would be home and that he would be at work.
Of course I never even heard of this guy and we don't even eat seafood, but regardless I wouldn't buy it out of a random pickup truck without knowing anything about this guy. And DH was all freaked out that he just told the guy I would be home alone with the baby. It was freaky he lied and said he talked to me and that he knew about the baby.
DH ended up calling in to work sick the next day and when the guy rang the door bell answered with his gun on his hip. The guy was all like "Oh I must have had the houses confused....it must be another house in this neighborhood."
So we were freaked out bc if it was the previous owners (who had a baby right before we bought the house" why would he wait 2 yrs to sell more meat and seafood. And if it truly was another house...how does he run a business not knowing where his customer lives when that is the whole point of his business going to their house?
DH took the license plate to run it the next time he worked, but I think he said nothing came up for it. And we let our neighbors know so they would call us if the truck ever was by again.
That is a little weird, but when we were growing up one of the neighbors used to come around to all the houses a few days before xmas dressed as Santa. I used to think it was really neat as a kid (then figured out it was my best friends dad!) So hopefully that was all it was.... and maybe your nosy neighbor will know something!
We talked to the neighbor. his wife saw the santa guy come and go. but we still dont know who it was. the neighbor guy called the police again...and an officer came to talk to me. nothing else has been reported.. and it was not anyone from like the fire dept or town related or anything. so we just dont know.

Weird.
It's nice that you can count on your neighbor to watch out for you though.
