Bed rest

I went to my regular doctors appointment today, it was a normal visit, had a sonogram...baby looks great.  She was being a stinker though, anytime we wanted to get a pic of her face she would turn away or put her hands up in the way.  So I told the Dr some symptoms that i have been having and he took me out of work for the rest of my pregnancy.  He explained that it was b/c it sounded like I had the beginning stages of preclampsia (sp?) and I needed to rest.

I was wondering if you girls had any ideas of what I could do on bed rest.  I am not a person that can sit in front of the tv all day, I don't like to sit still.  I do enjoy reading so I will be doing some of that.  But if you guys did other activities please let me know.  TIA.

Re: Bed rest

  • Things I would do...

    • Knit
    • Organize photos
    • Read
    • Create simple artwork for nursery
    • Research decorating ideas
    • Apply for jobs (just because I hate mine)
    • Collect recipes to make when off bed rest
These are just a few of the things that I can come up with. I am sorry that you are on bed rest and I hope that it won't be too trying for you.

  • Loading the player...
  • Bump, knit, read, eat, sudoku, watch tv or do something like netflix.  That's what I would do but I'm sure it will get old after a few days.  Check out the high risk pregnancy on the bump, I lurked their when I was having all the bleeding, they have a bed-rest check in.  Maybe they will have other ideas.
  • Oh no!  That sucks that you are on bed rest.  Are you going to be tested for Pre-E?  How has your BP been?

I have no idea about what to do to keep you busy...I watch a lot of TV Embarrassed

Maybe join Netflix so you can get movies right at your house, work on a scrapbook, read and Bump of course!

  • I was on modified bedrest due to possible pre-E , and did a lot of what people had mentioned.  I thought that I would read more, but I didn't.  Get lots of rest!

  • Sorry to hear that you are on bedrest.  I don't have any other suggestions to add to what everyone else said.  I know that I would probably be spending a lot of time on the computer and watch way too much TV.

Good luck!  Keep us posted on what happens if they test you for Pre-E.

  • I'm sorry. Pre-e is no fun. I wasn't on bedrest for long (bed rest at 34 weeks, delivered 35w6d), but if I had been on longer, MsZoeB had great suggestions. Don't be afraid to get as much rest as possible, and definitely don't do things because you think you're feeling OK. Take care.
