Sunflower "nut" butter instead of PB?

Anyone give dc this sunflower "nut" butter made from sunflower seeds?  Another mom whose ds has lots of allergy issues mentioned it in passing, our pedi would like us to hold off giving dd PB until age 3.  I'm checking in with him but haven't heard back so am just curious if anyone has experience with this as an alternative/option to PB.  TIA

  • Joseph doesn't have peanut issues. Obviously. But I like to play with my food processor, and I have a ton of different nuts around for the holidays.

Pine nut butter was a big hit. The cashew was gritty and he didn't care for that. Pecan is delicious.

  • A CW of mine's son has nut allergies so they use this. He said that if his son woke up tomorrow w/ no allergies they'd still use it cause it's taht good.

  • DD loves soy nut butter, but based on what you ladies are saying, I'm thinking of trying sun nut butter.

I just made some almond butter for my dad!  My food processor was honest-to-goodness SMOKING!  I had to let it rest for a bit, lol!

  • I prefer almond butter - yum and J likes it too!

Almonds are so hard, I only tried them once and it blew up my mini-chopper. The cashews were a little rough too. But the pecans and pine nuts went really easy.
