Hi everyone--
I am an uber-paranoid 1st time mom-to-be and called the doc last week because I was having really bad cramps (I have been cramping w/ no spotting since I was about 4 weeks and cramping has gotten worse.) So they had me come in and do blood work to test my hcg levels. They just called me back today... and I am kind of freaking out because from everything I have read they sound SUPER high.
On Thursday, 12/17 at 5w4d pg they were 16,119
and on Saturday, 12/19 almost 6 weeks pg they were 25,298!!
Doesnt that seem awfully high?? I called back to ask if I should be alarmed and she said no, its a sign of a strong pregnancy. But then on the internet I find all kinds of horror stories. She is going to try to squeeze me in on Wednesday for an u/s if there is a cancellation. Any thoughts you experts have... I would love to hear about.
Thanks!
Re: Question about hcg levels...
i don't recall my betas that far into my pregnancy - only the first few really mattered to me- those were at 14dpo (4w pg)...
betas mean nothing re: multiples --- listen to your doc and don't worry... and what kind of horror stories are you thinking of? Multiples? Because if so- this is not the place to call a multiple pregnancy a "horror story".... yes- high betas can be an issue... but multiples, while risky, are far from "horror stories"
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I think my SIL's around the same time were about 42,000 (I remember because she had an u/s due to the high # and spotting). She had one healthy baby boy a few weeks ago!
Don't worry about it, beta numbers have a large range of "normal".
The only thing I thought was weird about my own beta #'s this pregnancy was that they actually tripled in 2 days the first time I had them checked.
