I would post this on baby names but I'll start here first. A few years ago DH flipped through a name book and said whatever I land on will be our kid's name. It was Enzo. I thought he forget, but he stuck with it. I am not crazy about the name but I am coming around. He is pushing for it or for it to be Raul the 3rd. I hate that even more.
He is Mexican, I am not. We want a name thats fair for both families. He hates traditional mexican names. The name would be Enzo Steven R_____ (3 syllables).
What do you think- or does any one have any other suggestions. We know its a boy for sure.
Re: WDYT of this name?
I think Enzo is a great name, and you totally lucked out landing on that instead of, say, Ebeniezer!! It seems to fit your criteria for a name, and it'll be a great story to tell Enzo someday. Unless you're already stuck on a different name or really don't like Enzo, I'd say keep it on the short list and/or go for it!
Haha, you would seriously base your kid's name on a random book point? That's like basing where you live by spinning a globe with your eyes closed!
I would not go with that name unless both of you 100% LOVE it. You said you aren't crazy about it, so I would keep working on that list if I were you!
This
That's really tough. I think that whatever you end up naming your baby boy will suit him and his personality...just seems to be the way names work
I agree with the pp that Ilike Steven Enzo more, but I think that Enzo Steven is fine as well
GL...choosing names is really tough!
This is what I said. And it sounds like Elmo's mexican cousin.
Steven was my dad's name and it has always been decided it would be a middle name. Dh already has a few relatives with that name too.
I guess I should have added Dh fell in love with it when he saw it. He thinks its perfect.
Well if he fell in love with it, that's a different story. I wasn't trying to mock you, I just thought it was kinda funny that THAT'S why your DH wanted to keep the name! But if he actually loves it, then it's something you can work with.
FWIW, I love the other poster's suggestion about Vincenzo, with Enzo as a nn. Although I'm guessing that loses the Spanish flair your DH probably wants!
i agree with this..
and im in a similar situation. im Mexican American.. so is he, but i always tell him hes is more Mexican than I am.. lol.. he wants an Aztec name.. but.. uh... yeah i need to know how to pronounce my own kids name.. not mention he has trouble spelling the name he likes.. and also, i told him we have to think about when he attends school.. and how cruel kids can be.. though kids can find just about anything mean to say about someones name.. ive agreed to use the Aztec name as a middle.. but definitely NOT a first name.. its "Cuauhtmoc" strong meaning.. but im not thrilled about it for a first name..
Enzo? Really?

I just want to say that I thought about this, and Enzo is one of those names where you son needs to basically be a hottie. Buff, gorgeous, witty, to carry a name like Enzo. Imagine if your darling boy is bookish, quiet, introverted and not the Homecoming King. His name could give him a lot of hassle.
I am a big fan of strong, unique names myself but even my husband, who loves the same types of names, has had to talk me down off my cloud, reminding me that big names require big attitudes and not everyone has one of those.
But Enzo could be "bookish, quiet, introverted, and not the homecoming king" and still be "hot." In fact, I'd argue the name adds hotness, no matter what the personality/hobbies, because it's so unique.
Yes really. Would I have made a post about it if I wasnt serious. If you dont like it just say nms. I'd love to hear your names...
I actually really like the name Enzo. It doesn't sound weird to me at all. (And I usually only like uber-traditional names.)
BTW - I googled it to see where it comes from, and apparently there is a model of ferrari known as the Enzo.

enzo is actually an italian name (a nickname for boys named vincenzo or lorenzo). it was my first choice, as we are italian, and the names lorenzo and vincent run in our families, but now my boyfriend is backtracking.
i say...go for it! its very rare and very stylish. unfortunately, my bf is now leaning toward other italian names (milo?), so i am SO envious of you and your good taste husband!!
I looked it up, it said spanish origin. I also looked at Lorenzo but DH HATES it. I think I am almost sold on Enzo. Most of the feedback was good so its swaying me. He will be so happy when I tell him I will at least consider it now
I think I must be liking the name. Before I probably wouldnt have defended it.
for what its worth, i'm with your husband on lorenzo - and even vincenzo.
they'll only grow up being called larry and vinnie.
enzo, on the other hand, virtually nickname-proof. except for you could maybe call him zo, which is super awesome!
I think of Enzo as an Italian name also. It's nms but it's not a bad name.

Reminds me of the little boy on The Hills.
When I saw that little boy I started to think more about it. It was easier once I could actually picture someone with it.
Me too!!
That's very true. I'm just trying to provide all scenarios, even the bad ones, sort of like A Boy Named Sue. Yes Enzo is a Ferrari, or this and that, but not everyone can carry a name like that.
