Update and thanks

I posted over the weekend that I went into PTL at 29 wks. They were able to stop labor with magnesium sulfate, I got both rounds of steroid shots and am right now being weaned from the mag to start Nifedipine.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and support. We met with the NICU dr yesterday to talk about what to expect if the babies come now/soon. It was a scary conversation but we feel better just being prepared.

One of the nurses here told me today how nice it is to have someone on bed rest who is willing to be here for weeks to let the babies grow. Then she told me about some patients that don't want to deal with the side effects of the meds or bed rest and just let there babies come early. I cried just thinking about how awful that it, about my babies, and about all of you out there.

Thanks again for your kind words:)

  • I'm glad you've stopped labor for now.  I pPROM'd at 25w5d and held out until 27w5d with hospital bedrest.  Here's hoping you have several more weeks of uneventful hospital bedrest!
  • I'm glad that you are still hanging in there.  Hospital bedrest is hard, but so worth it and every day makes a difference.  I was on bedrest for 2 weeks and I remember the nurses telling me the same thing.  I couldn't imagine willingly letting a baby be born too soon.  I would have stayed on bedrest for three more months if I could have.

  • I'm glad you're still PG! I was on hospital bedrest for 6 weeks and it was horrible, but what I wouldn't have given to spend 16 weeks there.

I hope that you have a lot of time left to spend in bed!

This is soooo true...I lasted almost 6 weeks in the hospital after pPROM.  I handled it well for the most part, but it was awful, especially with a 3 y/o at home, but I look back on it now like it was a flash in time...everytime I hold my sweet baby.  Bake, Bake, Bake babies!!
