I met with one of the midwives, since I guess the dr I was supposed to see today was in L&D. She spent a lot more time with me than the other drs have done though! I really liked her.
Bad news is I've gained about 10 lbs... the doc didn't say anything, but I did share my anxiety of going over 200lbs and she was really great about suggesting ways to deal with that. She also understands that being pregnant around this time of year is so hard (with Thanksgiving and Christmas time) with all the goodies!
LO's heartbeat was around 156bpm, so pretty average. No u/s today, so I'm glad I have my 3D/4D one Wednesday so I can find out the gender before I see DH soon! I also got my bloodwork done for my quad screening.
All in all, a good appointment! Can't wait for Wednesday to see LO!
Re: Had my 16 week appt today
Sounds good (other than your concerns about the weight). Glad your LO is doing well
I have a midwife and I LOVE her...I find her to be so much more thorough than any docs I've had. Plus they don't weigh me, which I like even more (not that I've gained all that much or anything, but I like that they don't consider it to be the main focus)
Haha yeah, I totally do blame it on the Holidays! I think if I wasn't pregnant during Thanksgiving and Christmas I wouldn't gain nearly as much!
That's funny, I did have to wait a really long time to see her! I guess you're right about that. I guess it was worth it though since she was really good about asking me questions and everything. Last time I went right before Thanksgiving, the dr I saw came in really quickly but she rushed through everything and I felt like she was trying to get rid of me at the end... I liked her, but she didn't spend nearly as much time with me.
Sounds like a good appointment! And no worries about the weight gain - just try to make sure you are doing plenty of walking - even 10-20 minutes every night works. I didn't take that advice and with the holidays, it has caught up to me. Watch your sodium intake too -it makes a huuuuuge difference. :-)
Btw, I wish my midwife was as great as those you are all describing - I can't stand mine. She told me I had gained weight too quickly (22 pounds by week 26 or so) and that I was going to have a baby that was a moose. A MOOSE. I've since changed doctors.
That's terrible! I can't believe she told you that!
My sodium intake is probably what's helping pack on the pounds too- I love salty this pregnancy and eat a lot of frozen food... eep!
I really need to do the walking- she and I talked about making sure I walk my puppy every night no matter how cold it is! I'm going to make more of an effort.
