BFF choses similar name... copy cat!

Hey there,

My BFF (who happens to be dating my BIL!) Just told me that they plan to name their first son RYLAND.

we are naming our daughter on her way this spring- REILLY.

do those sound a little close to you?

 I was like... Oh, thats cute. I told my Husband and he said, "they dont sound too much a like"

umm... RY...LAND, REI...LY. They sound very similar.

I am not too concerned as they arent even trying to get pregnant yet... but it just kind of annoyed me. such a copy cat thing to do!

My BFF wants to name her daughter Lilly.  I've had the name Lillian picked out since I was 10.

Neither of us cares.  You are most definitely overreacting...no one is copying you.

I'd say they're too similar for siblings, but not too similar for potential cousins. Besides, there's no point in getting worked up over it now considering 1) she's not even pregnant yet, and 2) they might not even end up with any boys.

look at it this way you are beating them to it! maybe they will change thier minds before they do something silly like that.  i feel you on this one. i would be upset too. 

my mom always tells me my name was supposed to be heather but my cousin already had it, thats when she chose Jaime.

I know you are venting and I do hope you feel better that you got it out.  Initally in your situation I might be slighlty annoyed but I would def let it go.  Everyone needs to name their child what they like.  You will always know someone that has a child with the same name or similar name.  Find a name you like and use it.  Don't worry about other peoples name choices.

I think they sound very similar but since they arent even TTC yet, I wouldnt let it bother me. They could change their minds a thousand times before then. Or they may have a girl! lol
